Shit in a Can
(sung to the tune of “Winter Wonderland”)
Miller Light, Henieke-en
Carlsberg’s fine, so is Kirin
‘Nything will do, but the Singapore Brew
‘Cos Tiger’s just Shit in a Can.
Have you ever gone to a party?
Where they tried to make you drunk?
When they serve Tiger it’s not funny
Cos it tastes like someone shit in my cup!
Tiger time, where’s the women?
All their signs, are misleadin’
Beer aunties they find, not the Ang moh Kind
‘Cos Tiger’s just Shit in a can

Okay I’ve just posted some of my lyrics of some of my new songs below. Just decided to be more productive with my Holidays rather than watching the computer. Of course, I’m not a good musician so I can’t really write the score yet. but at least I tried.
And Oh yes, before I forget; I posed a challenge for myself to write 2 different songs/styles with the same premise. I just had an idea of a love story with the “Girl (or guy if you want) next door”.
I wrote one of the songs with a Jazz feel in mind (probably Bossa even) and the other with a very Feel-good musical theme to it.
Just post some comments below each of them to tell me what you think about them!
Jaimes is chaffed mentally after writing. Taking nap now.
Hey, was just trying to write something that could be used in a musical or something (quite ambitious). Here I imagine something similar to Grease! or Hairspray-esque love story in which the guy and the girl like each other but they don’t really wanna confront each other’s feelings. Both of them live in the same neighborhood and simultaneously have their friends over (Guyfriends and Galfriends) in their respective homes.
The jingle starts when the Guyfriends ask the Guy why he doesn’t go over ask ask the Girl out?
(Guy stanza 1)
She lives next door
But we’re worlds apart
Its just a fantasy
How would she fall in love with me
(Girl Stanza 1)
He lives next door
Am i in his heart?
Whats in his thoughts?
He seems to love everything I’m not!
(Bridge 1)
Guy
Should I go over?
(Guy friends : Go over?)
To give a hint or drop a line?
Galfriends
Should you go over?
(Ditzy Galfriend : Why not?)
Girl
Warm his heart with some apple pie?
(Chorus : Sung by both Leads)
I’ve got a million reasons not to
But this heart’s calling for you
I can say for sure for certain
That I’ve fallen in love with
The girl (that guy) next door
Guy Stanza 2
Girl Stanza 2
Bridge 2
Chorus
(Cutaway part)
Girl
We’ve got to stop running into each other
(Ditzy : How about each others arms? Tee hee.)
Girl
Its kind of (Galfriends : Cute? Weird? Cheesy?) AWKWARD in a way
I don’t want to spill my affections just yet, i think…
Guy
Why don’t we take everything we knew ’bout love
And throw it away…
(Half time Chorus sung by both)
I’ve got a million reasons not to
But this heart’s calling for you
I can say for sure for certain
That I’ve fallen in love with
The girl (that guy) next door
For this song I wrote in such a way it sorta like a Poem also with a Old Jazz to it (think 1930s-1940s Jazz). I feel in jazz form I can be more liberal with the words I use, especially with imagery. Don’t ask me for chords though. I still haven’t figured that out either.
Verse 1
Spaces apart
Only footsteps away
This enigma steals my heart
and leaves my senses astray
Who is this secret rose
Whose scent’s so strong, unopposed
Takes my breath away
Verse 2
Hello my Love
Happenstance swings our way
The girl who lives across me
I never met till this day
Lets share this time tonight
We’ll talk I promise no lies
Whisk the Night Away
Chorus
And tell me, why we haven’t met before?
Maybe you opened when I closed my door?
And it’s silly cause you live just across from me
Oh Baby, lets catch up and cherish this night
I’ve got so much to say to the one who’s right
To the girl I love next door.
I don’t know if the rest of you are enjoying Elton as much as I do, but heres a great performance by the World’s Oldest Fairy (I mean that in the best possible way ever).
Enjoy.
If You See Me, Hear me Out
I don’t know what he said to you
But the whole world thinks you’re beautiful
And its plain to see what you mean to me
You leave my head spinning whereever you go
If for a minute you could turn my way
I’d promise to reach the moon for you
I’ll do it all for the girl of my dreams
Even though shes somebody I barely know
This peculiar situation leaves my heart contrite
Tell me girl, if you please, listen to this
If you see me, Hear me out
Its no use if we don’t sort it out
It kinda hurting in this one-way street
To be disappointed when we meet
Just a short little ditty I wrote today. I sing badly, so if you willing to torture your ears please go ahead and click on the mp3 link. Its not an fantastic song, just wrote the song with the imagination it’ll be used in a short scene in a drama. Just revving my engine to make sure its there. Heres the lyrics
Baby, I’m for real
Baby, no doubts about it
Put your hand in mine for a whileWipe these tears you’re cryin’
Hurt by all the lyin’
Its so hard to come this farI don’t want to hurt you
Its ain’t easy to say I love you
But I’ll be here to dry your eyes
Here is the mp3 of the song.

Its kinda sleepy at 1 am on this drowsy Friday night. I’ve been trying to lose weight recently by playing soccer much more often and of course attending Ryan’s dance training. But I guess its been counter-acted by me drinking way too much Apple juice. Something about that appley-goodness, and mind you, its not even any-fresher-you-have-to-peel-yourself brand. Its in-house Giant brand loh! Oh well, now you know why I can’t stretch that far apart in dance class…
Anyway, just decided to highlight some of my musical influences that really made an impression on me, some are guitar heroes, others are just mainstream popsters. Maybe make this a regular thing in my blog, just as a homage to all these people who tickled my ears right.
So I’ll start with Old Slow Hand himself… Eric Clapton.

I have to admit, I rather t3h sux at writing songs. I could never string both a good melody or lyric together.
Its either a good lyric, or a good melody. Coupled with inherent tone-deafness and senility,I tend to forget what I write altogether.
Heres me trying to write a lyric.

Hard to say Hello
Its not even evening yet
When you arrive so unexpectedly
You didn’t even give me time to prepare
Should I say something lovely, witty or refrain?
Maybe I’ll just stay silent
With a glancing hope you’ll come talk to me
I’m beating myself up inside
That I find it so hard to say hello.
Chorus
The words in my heart
Will never find their way upon your ears
(Its) as if stone walls
Are stopping me from making the message clear
I just want to ask “Are you ok?”
But something else comes in the way.
Please believe me, I’m not lying, its not something I meant to say.
Bridge
Whenever I see you sad
I long to be the one that cries with you
I know it’ll take a real man
But I never can seem to show you I’m true.
