TV Season begins again (well not truly until Lost returns!), so I decided to list down some of the shows that piqued my interest or are currently occupying my time in the couch.
Back to You -Fraiser reprised! Kelsey Grammer returns as a has-been newscaster re-employed his old TV station. Hilarity ensues when he tries to make sense of his mid-life crisis. Sounds familiar.
How I Met Your Mother – Season 3 of HIMYM reaches LEGENDARY status. How will Ted move on with his break up with Robin? I don’t really care. I just want more Barney Barney Barney! www.slapcountdown.com
Boston Legal – Am I the only one that thinks James Spader and Will Shatner is brilliant in this show? Beyond-quirky lawyers seem so appealing to me and make me wanna take up the profession. I’d wonder how Spader will defend Cpl Dave Teo?
Reaper -Anything with Kevin Smith writing looks appealing to me. Story of a kid whose parents sold his soul to the devil, now he has to do the devil’s work of rounding up stray souls on the earth. Think ‘Superbad’ meets ‘Buffy, Vampire Slayer’.
Robot Chicken – Pok pok pok, pok pok pok, pokka pokka pok pok pok… POKKK (The ending theme in lyrics)
Family Guy – Season opened with Blue Harvest, a Family-Guy retelling of Star Wars Ep. 4 – A New Hope. I just love Herbert as Obi-wan!
Two and a Half Men – Classic styled sitcom. Love it.
Heroes – For a show that is only half-interesting; half of the character’s stories I actually CARE about, it still warrants a spot on my Hard drive. Just because of superheroes.
Lost – Religious duty.
CSI – Religious duty.
Once again, I say, I NEED A NEW HARD DRIVE!!!! Else this Video-Ezy close down!!!
P.S. Will be posting links to the Shows homepages soon. Hopefully. Quite Lazy recently.
Today had a weird cellgroup meeeting, I don’t really know if you would consider it CG per se; the only CG things we did was icebreaking games and offering. What we did was order lotsa pizzas, chix wings and various fruit (thanks to shuling’s mum; awesomeness.) and had a movie night at CG place. Wide screen FTW!
We watched Evan Almighty; which isn’t showing in theatres yet, so we got it thru.. *ahem* means. It was a fairly laugh-a-minute show, especially if you get the Bible nudge nudge wink winks, Carrel seems to be an uprising star in the comedic scene; and only I laughed when they showed a shot of the Daily Show w Jon Stewart (that was where he started out, yes I know too much) and its not afraid of poking fun of himself (40 year virgin-mary, HA HA). Although hes not attained Jim Carey status yet, hes really a diamond in the rough right now.
I’d like to end with the quote that I really like from the show; Here God (played by Morgan Freeman) is speaking to Joan (of Ark, HA HA) about prayer and understanding her husband’s situation :
God: Let me ask you something. If someone prays for patience, you think God gives them patience? Or does he give them the opportunity to be patient? If he prayed for courage, does God give him courage, or does he give him opportunities to be courageous? If someone prayed for the family to be closer, do you think God zaps them with warm fuzzy feelings, or does he give them opportunities to love each other?
I think the script writers really hit the spot there, I immediately thought of Pastor’s example of a man praying “Give me Patience. NOW.”
Sometimes you really have to be conscious of what you’re praying about.
Lesson learnt : Be careful what ya pray for. Be specific.
Hi Guys I Know that Lost and Heroes ended about 2 weeks ago, but I didn’t have the time to update my views about it due to Emerge preparations and now Term Test!
I guess I’ll be posting about it next week so don’t forget to read about it!
Jaimes wished he was Sylar and eat all the Chinese scholar’s brains out to pass his exams.
Even the Pirates were bewildered by the wafer-thin plot.
I caught Pirates of the Caribbean : At Worlds End with the drama people yesterday. Yes the five (5) of us. Its kinda sad.
Ok, I’ve got to admit this, this is the 1st Pirates movie I’ve seen at the theatre (the first 2 I’ve watch through *ahem* means.), and was almost led to believe I was watching a lame Arthouse movie.
What?
This is Pirates of the Caribbean we’re TALKING ABOUT! Wheres the swashbuckling, heave-ho action? The smell of adventure?
Ok I’ve got to admit its kinda tiring to write RTs in my blog, a lot of ideas zooming around in my head and too little butterfly nets to catch them all, but I found a common theme in both shows currently running now..
.
All the Best Cowboys (or Heroes) have Daddy Issues.
(and make good TV!)
If you didn’t recognize it by now, its the title of Lost 1×11; just some trivia there.
Anyway, with the latest episodes of both Heroes and Lost, we find out our characters are not really up and chummy with their dads, heres a run down of the 2 shows paternal problems… *SPOILERS AHEAD* (duh)…

Jaimes knows the winning fomulae for a winning show and proposes to Mediacorp to read his first draft of a potentially hit show “My Dad, the Tax-Collector”. On the clause that both Adrian Pang and Gurmit Singh will have nothing to do with the bloody show. Retire them already!
Just watched the latest Spidey movie with the rest of the Drama Ministry people, its been highly anticipated by lotsa folks, especially comic-book nerds like us! The general consensus is that it was a good show but cheezy, although I had a blast of a time seeing the comic book hero fleshed out for the third time!
Loved the first fight sequence with New Goblin versus the plain-clothes Parker, the show really made you feel like you were freewheeling in the air with the 2 aerial combatants, tossing and turning, heard some gasps in the back row when the ring slipped from Parker’s hands. This scene proved hard to top, although the part where he saved Gwen and the Sandman Subway fight was awesome too.
MaryJane/Kristen Dunst looked like a fish outta water when she was the one trying to get Pete’s attentions, the past 2 movies she wasn’t and now when the roles are reversed (Spider-Man loved and her career in shambles) its kinda weird to see her disappointed and jealous with Pete’s actions. Loved the part where Gwen did the upside down kiss with Spidey that just broke her heart.
Harry Osborn/James Franco was brilliant as an amenesiac Goblin, but I cringed when he snapped to being his old self again. Then the character just went out the window…
“I’m the other guy.”
I screamed “ROBERT AH!” in the theatre when he spoke those words to Peter, really a roberted moment!
This sequel was quite the soap opera, felt that line was taken out of Days of our Lives.
Tobey Maguire IS PETER PARKER, hands down, he plays the lovable nerdy loser like no one else can! The way he sung to MJ’s performance, explaining the acoustics of the hall, riding his beat-up scooter, his bachelor pad etc. Sam Raimi did a perfect job of fleshing the nerdy schoolboy finally growing up into adulthood.
Loved the cheesy Travolta-esque walk down the street, Parker brimming with confidence, trying to be the suave ladykiller! The whole sequence with him trying to piss off MJ was classic, only Raimi can pull it off and leave the scene with any credibility!
Sandman is such a NOOB in the movie! Maybe it was attributing to him being new to his powers, but he was so easily defeated (Water? WATER? Thats his WEAKNESS???). And the giant sand dune at the end kinda was a turn off, reminded me of the Stay-Puft Marshmellow Man from Ghost-Busters. I bet I saw something more fearsome in The Mummy or the Scorpion King or whatever. Oh yeah, he just says sorry and flies off at the end, what is he? Fairy Dust?
Venom was so non-existent in the show it didn’t really matter, kinda a waste of Topher Grace’s talents and the Venom character. I was hoping that there was more rivalry between Brock and Parker, rather than sitting through the 240 mins movie seeing Venom only for 15 mins to be defeated by Ding-Dongs. Crudely crafted ding-dongs. Wished the symbiote was more creepy crawly when Parker used it, an added effect of him succumbing to the Dark Side…
Who really stole the scenes they were in were JJ Jameson, Bruce Campbell and Ursala (the landlord’s daughter). They were so funny with their quirks and characters they took the focus of the story! Its supporting cast like this that helps flesh out the human side of Peter Parker.
Running along the rooftops with a big American flag in the back is a BIG NO NO! (Yes! the same one in the trailer!)
Thats about all I have to say for the movie, thank you Sam Raimi for the experience; it didn’t live up to the previous 2 Spidey Movies, but I guess it still a much bigger cut than the rest of the junk out there. It was a fun movie while it lasted, despite feeling that they had to squeeze so much story into the plot.
Oh yeah, Eugene is such a FUSSY POT when it comes to movies.
Wow! What a rollercoster of an episode! This episode handled Lost’s trademark flashbacks in a unique way, in that flashbacks were at most 8 days ago. It basically showed what Locke was up to since seeing his father on the island. Here are some random thoughts I had through the episode.
Man, They sure took a long while to finally showed what we speculated for ages, in that Locke’s dad was the same person who tore Sawyer’s (or should I say James Ford?) family apart, as least theres a resolution. There was a similar resolution in this season prior to this, namely the one with Jack and Claire having the same father (Gasp! Horror?).
Locke’s journey on the island has been a awkward one, in Season 1 hes the one who mysteriously had much more insight to the island more than anyone else, in S2 he was the chief Anti-button pusher and finally realized he didn’t understand the island as much as he thought he did, finally this season we find out that the Others are inviting him to their elite club.
This episode again throws Faith and Science against each other, as we learn that only special individuals (like Locke) heal faster than the rest, why is that Ben needed surgery and people like Locke could regain the use of legs minutes after crashing onto the island? Could it be that Faith and Science work together instead of against that we have led to believe?
The Real Sawyer or Anthony Cooper as hes more commonly known is REAL pain in the ass! It doesn’t matter whether he was tied up or gagged, he just blabbered whatever he could mouth off every second! I bet it made Sawyer’s decision to choke him much easier (SHUT UP YOUR FACE YOU OLD CODGER!).
Speaking of Sawyer, we could see the anger he had just before he was about to kill Cooper, knowing that he murdered a wrong person in Australia before he boarded the plane, and after all this time the real bugger was alive and right now in front of him. Is this a time for redemption? It didn’t help that Cooper was constantly baiting him to end his life (or was it con? Sawyer called his bluff!). We could see the pain when he finally noosed Cooper, he wasn’t awfully proud of murdering the chap in Australia, and now he has to do it again.
One of the few remarkable things that Cooper said, the other being how he ended up on the island, is that he perceived that the place that he was in is HELL. This is interesting because recently the writers of the show have flat out said that the island is not purgatory (A place neither heaven nor hell, but a place where dead people go after-life) and adding to the fact that the parachutist Naomi revealed that the wreckage of Flight 815 had no survivors and the bodies were found. Personally I hope it isn’t hell (its just bad writing) but this adds mysticism to the show. Conspiracy Theories arise!
Kate is such a RAT! She was the one that let the cat out of the bag and told Jack about the wounded parachutist, SABO lah! Now Juliet is going to ruin everything as she has Jack around her thumb…
Sayid is getting more paranoid, and has good reason to be, look at how he questions Naomi.
Naomi has a Brit/European accent, I have a feeling she might be added to the (international) cast following Charlie’s much speculated demise by the end of the season. They need someone to have a Brit accent (Desmond is Scottish, brother!)
I’m looking forward to next weeks episode, it has much insight on the Dharma Initiative and Ben Linus, and hopefully answers some questions (thank you azn boy Marvin Candle/Wickman!). Its called the Man behind the Curtain! (JACOB???)
